Slavic axe 'Svarog'
Now, let's introduce the Slavic axe, I called Svarog! Named after the Slavic god of light, fertility and the blacksmith of the gods!
The deeply engraved blade is fire welded and forged together of 3 parts, with a cutting edge of high carbon tool steel. The shaft is roughly made of very old oak wood and is ending with a piece of antler.
All is made very rough and raw, for giving it an ancient design... like if it was found as an artifact in an ancient tomb. I didn't fixed the head of the axe in a modern way with epoxy glue and wooden wedge... instead of, I used the old way with a forged steel wedge, outside of the eye. That makes it easier to change the shaft in case of a damage, when you are outside on a raid or on the battlefield.
As your can see, I missed runes and all kind of standard viking decorations! I used traditional carvings from these eastern countries, fable creatures for the blade and an ancient god, who's face is roughly carved into the neck of the shaft. It could be Svarog... or Sventevit, or Veles, or Thor, or Odin, or every other old god... whoever people want to find in it. This ancient axe shall work in every thinkable background for a future customer. No matter if the focus is old Slavic culture, Viking, or Fantasy like Conan the barbarian... This is why I missed everything that could fix it in a pre dedicated background.
